Instagram Favourite – Castle Combe
What a charming little place. And one of the places most people who visit will fall in love with Castle Combe. It is probably the most photographed village in England. With a good reason. Whoever drives through the Cotswolds will sooner or later have to pay a visit to Castle Combe. We also did not miss out on Castle Combe.
During our holiday in England in January, we visited Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds. Our drive from Bristol to North London took us through the Cotwolds region. This region is also often called the heart of England and is already known for its cozy and original British architecture and enchants everyone. I am sure that there is no exception. In the summer, many tourists find their way here too.
So we decided to do a short trip to Castle Combe. The weather in January was typically English: it was raining, of course! Nonetheless, England is still very pretty in the rain. I think so at least, because rainy weather gives the whole thing a touch of more coziness, right?
And wow – Castle Combe is a very laid back and charming place. It’s one of those places where you just take the time, maybe go to the pub for lunch and enjoy a delicious beer. Or just let take in nature and architecture. On some front doors, homemade jam, cakes and lemon curd (typical for England) are sold. Only a few cars drive through the village, so you can also only listen to the silence. At least outside the typical travel season.
Those who got a taste of the Cotswolds after these incredibly beautiful pictures and want to discover other places like Castle Combe, should definitely make a trip to Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. You will not regret it! I think the pictures speak for themselves 😉
